Saturday Recipe Round-up

It’s Saturday again, and what a week this has been! I’m stressed out to the max with my job search (who isn’t these days?) and the work that I’m currently doing at my office. It’s commencement season, which means lots and lots of invitations, certificates, programs and more.

Oh. And the clients want everything by next week.

Yay.

So, to calm down, I dug up some delicious recipes to share with you. Let’s see what I uncovered, eh?

Confessions of a Cookbook Queen has stolen my heart, once again, with her recipe for Devil’s Food Mini Donuts. Not only does it require NO frying (I really do hate heating up a pan of oil. Ew), but it also comes with a sweet chocolate frosting!

As usual, Alaska Mom made a beautiful new treat this week, Chewy Coconut Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars. He recipe titles are even longer than mine! And you knew I was going to feature this bar recipe once I saw the word, “coconut,” in the title.

One of these days, the weather will warm up again, and I will make these classic ice cream sandwiches from Smitten Kitchen, one of the most classy blogging ladies I know. Who doesn’t want homemade ice cream sandwich cookies? I mean, aren’t those the most delicious cookies ever?

Ah, Bakerella. Her amazing decorating techniques never fail to amaze, and her creativity was spent this week on easy little panda cupcakes. The use of chocolate chips and sprinkles are such simple ideas that I wonder why I didn’t think of it before?

And this week’s piece de resistance is something I found trending on Pinterest: Cinco de Mayo pinata cookies from SheKnows. I was absolutely stunned at the sight of these beautiful and original treats. I can’t wait to find the time to make them!

Saturday Recipe Round-up

Good afternoon, Bakers Anonymous! It’s Saturday, and I’ve got stuff to do. Am I going to do it? Probably not. And that’s quite all right with me. In other news, it’s time for our weekly recipe round-up. We’ve got plenty of sweet treats for you to enjoy.

Alaska Mom made these delicious looking Banana Chocolate Chip cookies. I agree with her note to put walnuts into the cookies. Who doesn’t want a sweet crunch with their chocolate?

I found these amazing Oreo Cheesecake Bites at Six Sister’s Stuff, a blog I recently discovered on my many (many) perusings of the Internet. My favorite part of the recipe is that the cheesecake only needs to bake for 45 minutes and doesn’t require a water bath. Simplicity at its finest.

The ever lovely Confessions of a Cookbook Queen created these exorbitantly delicious Chocolate Cookies and Cream Cupcakes. Did you notice that the chocolate frosting is dipped in chocolate?!

Feeling adventurous, and maybe a little French? Try this banana bread crepe cake with butterscotch from Smitten Kitchen. You can even make the crepes by themselves and enjoy an international breakfast.

My Baking Addiction showcased these Coconut-Mocha Cupcakes. I am a huge coconut fan, not so much on the mocha, but look at that dark color! It looks so rich and dense.

A hot weather note and some favorites

The weather has been fluctuating so much this week that my poor dry-skinned arms don’t know how to react. Besides that, I haven’t even wanted to think about my oven, let alone touch it. In lieu of me presenting you with new recipes, let’s check out what my fellow food bloggers have done this week!

At Home in Alaska did another copycat recipe this week, Mrs. Fields Cinnamon Sugar Cookies. I don’t think I’ve seen such perfectly round cookies with that delicious brown color in a loooooong time.

I love doughnuts. I really do. The local Dunkin Donuts, unfortunately, is all the way down on Delsea, too far for me to walk. Bakerella‘s doughnuts, on the other hand, look all pretty with their hand-dipped frosting. I wish could fry things in my apartment without stinking everything up.

Simple ingredients make up the delicious Coconut Almond Granola featured on Baking Bites. A tasty treat that takes one hour to make!

I don’t think I’ve seen such a beautiful cheesecake that wasn’t in stores, but Barbara Bakes takes the cake with her vanilla bean cheesecake. You can almost smell the deliciousness through the computer screen.

Kix cereal makes a cookie comeback in these treats by Cookie Madness. Unfortunately, the only cereal I have on my shelf at the moment is cornflakes, and I’m not really in the mood to make cornflake cookies. Again.

Ranch rugelach may sound a little strange, but trust me, when you check out the recipe on the Smitten Kitchen website, you’ll be excited to make them yourself!

Bakers Anonymous’ favorites!

It seems that every time I get around to updating, something gets in my way, like homework, my boyfriend, or that last batch of cookies that’s calling my name. This week is my birthday week, so I’ve been even more distracted than usual. Fear not! I have a lot to talk about, including this week’s favorites and a special interview with one of Rowan University’s own bakers.

My best friend’s website, A Food Coma, is one of my most favorite food blogs. She’s vegetarian, loves fresh food, and ALWAYS lets me sneak a piece of whatever she’s making. Her Blueberry Key Lime Tart is certainly worth tasting!

At Home in Alaska has done it again, and this time she’s provided an excellent muffin recipe. I can’t wait to see how my own take on Apple Cinnamon Walnut Muffins turn out.

The latest series of cake pop posts from Bakerella make me cry a little on the inside. They’re so adorable! I can’t help but love the sheep and bunny cakies.

I am all about the sour cream chocolate chip cupcakes from Cooking for Comfort. The smooth frosting looks so tempting!

The chewy amaretti cookies that I spotted on Smitten Kitchen look amazing. I’m always looking for ways to incorporate almond paste or marzipan, and this seems perfect.

The classic combo of peanut butter and chocolate was featured in Something New is Cooking‘s Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie. I bet it tastes like a giant Reese’s cup!

This week’s cookies and cake

It’s been an exhausting Spring break, definitely not long enough, but I am glad to be back at school, even if I do have to go to class. I spent Sunday night baking, unpacking, and getting caught up with all my fellow food bloggers, and now here I am at Thursday, wondering where my week went!

As usual, A Recipe a Day has another fantastic looking recipe for us to drool over. Her strawberry Waldorf cake may be made from a Betty Crocker mix, but anything with strawberries is a definite thumbs-up from me!

At Home in Alaska won my heart with her recipe for orange-flavored Milano cookies. I love the Pepperidge farm originials, but how could I not want my own version?

The spring chickens at Bakerella make me want to go “AWWWWWW” for an exceptionally long amount of time just because they’re so darn cute! I don’t know if I would be able to eat anything so delicious.

Baking Bites grabbed my attention this week with a post about an awesome new cake pan: the pull apart bunny. It’s true! Now, in addition to your chocolate bunnies, you can murderously tear apart this cake!

This was the week for chocolate recipes. Cooking for Comfort showcased a simple, but delicious-looking recipe for Toll House Pie that I think I’m going to have to put on my to-bake list. Examining the ingredient list, I think it’s a chocolate chip cookie pie … only better.

My heart was torn when I saw Smitten Kitchen’s latest post about icebox cupcakes, I think my heart skipped a couple of beats. I have been wanting to make her icebox cake since for weeks, and now she comes up with her own recipe for smaller versions?!
